Introducing Micromax Dual 5

Indian mobile phone company who was silent for the past 6 months woke up from the sleep and launched Micromax Dual 5 smartphone in March 2017 with mind blowing specs and a price tag of ₹24999. The phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card and a 3200mAh non-removable battery. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Micromax Dual 5 features a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Hidden Truth

The specification is good, but the price is a little bit on the higher side when the specs and the brand value is taken into consideration.  But let leave it aside, at least Micromax made something new, in India. If you are thinking like that, you are wrong. This phone is a rebranded phone from China. The original name and model of this phone are Qiku 360 Q5. The specifications and the exteriors are exactly the same.

The Verdict

There is nothing wrong in rebranding the phones, but if you don’t know how is your phone made, how can we expect people to trust you that you will give service for this phone? Make something original, spend some money on R&D and come up with new models with which you can compete with the world. We do not need a company who puts their name on the cover and sells the Chinese phones here. Instead we can directly buy it from Ali Express. This phone will also may go down the drain in a few months like Yu or Yutopia. Micromax, we are proud of you being an Indian brand, but at least live up to our expectations once in a while.
